I had a 30+ year old foster that i fell in love with.
Gimli i called him.
He passed from ill health, but he was one i still miss.

Wish i could link his story, but i am hopeless on this kindle.

It’s between that and a 20 year old African grey that popped up last night. Been with the family all his life but the son has to give him up for some reason

I re-read what my coordinator sent to me. It’s due to his schedule that Toby is getting rehomed

Awww. That's a shame and it's also sad for both owner and bird. If he doesn't go with you I hope he finds a soft place to land.

I would like to. I requested info on both. I believe the zon is a male but not 100% sure
Some boys can be sweet. Vet tech has a beautiful lilac crowned? Zon that someone gave up for a new so. He is a nice guy.

MC is absolutely a sweetheart. He may be a blue fronted amazon male (DNA says so) that is wild caught, but he is precious.

He throws his head down for skritches so hard that I think he'll hurt himself. He gives me kisses by butting his beak to my chin. Steps up cheerfully on most days and is starting to tolerate hubby trying to skritch his head.

Amazons rule.......

But if the OP has the room, can't you take them both home???

possibly. I requested the information on both. So we will see if its a right fit for both. One has been fostered for awhile but they decided not to adopt him. The grey just came in last night so they are trying to get more info on him

My questions for my coordinator to send were:

Are they used to kids?

Are they used to dogs and other animals?

Are they used to busy homes?

And are they stick trained if they aren’t handleable.

It was no to the first 3. He didn’t ask about the last after hearing the answers for the first.

I’m hoping to have better answers with the grey

Don't write them off because they've had a different lifestyle.
My old Amazon came from an older couple, was cage bound, and not used to activity.
He loved this house! Zons like action and activity.
They may need time to acclimate, but most will wholeheartedly join in on the fun once they're used to it.

Green Cheeks are also one of the gentlest and calmest of the amazons. Sweet little birds.

I didn’t write them off at all. I was disappointed when I found out. But I trust my adoption coordinator and he doesn’t think he would be a good fit.

I did just get an email on the grey though, and I think he might fit in with us

Becky Im sorry for your loss, but the pictures are great, he was beautiful.

As for the green cheeks, I would love to have one, but we have 2 Zons now that can drive my wife crazy when they get started.
Miss Birdy is an Orange Wing and sweet as pie. She also came from a home where she got no attention and was stuck in the backyard in a cage and forgotten about.
Since we've gotten her she has really come out of her shell and loves all the action and activity around her. She does only love women but you can tell shes really happy now.
Good luck in whatever choice you make :)
