Very cute!

Just a heads up, a lot of people don't exactly agree with species cross breeding on this forum.
Adorable! Glad to hear he's healthy! :D

I think, judging by OP's past posts, that this was an accidental pairing and the owner just didn't have the heart to boil the egg. I don't agree with breeding period, but I'm not sure what I would've done in his case either, since it wasn't intentional. Glad I never have to make such a decision.

I didn't see the other posts :ashamed1: . I'm glad I'd never have to make that decision either o.o

Just out of curiosity, I did a search and learned that a sun/green cheek hybrid is "unlikely but not impossible" . Learn something new every day. :)

Are they sterile? Or can the babies breed as well?
Not sure what the point of breeding the two species would be.The babies dont look exceptional and I doubt it improves them in any way either.NOt to say they arent cuties, but look mostly like a regular greenies.

I didn't know that was possible either. What's the big deal with cross breeding? (honestly curious)

It "dilutes" the gene pool. You can end up with birds generations down the line with odd coloration and sometimes health issues. I have friends with cross bred macaws that have behavior problems as well; such as extremely high strung that they and others feel are associated with the crossing. It would be nice to see all of the pure breeds to have homes before we start mixing the pool.
