I got this toy today for Pretty and am wondering if I should remove the eyes before giving it to her? They're little clam shells.

I've had it hanging it on the outside of her cage the last few hours not wanting to freak her out by it, but I noticed her chewing on it through the bars so I think it's time for it to go in the cage for her to have her fun with it.:D

Anyone? Would you leave the eyes or take them off?
Am I just being too paranoid?

I am not sure if shells are ok or not but they look like they were painted so I would remove them to be on the safe side

The eyes are the first thing my birds would go for. :)

Why do you want to remove them?

Those are my thoughts...

And so is this. I think she'll enjoying popping them off there too. Think I'll put it in there only as a supervised toy til she pops them off. That way I can see what she does with them and make sure she doesn't try chewing on them.

Thanks.

OK, first off - where did you get that toy? It is so cool!

I wouldn't worry about her chewing thme, either. Can't birds eat clam and oyster shells? I can't think of any bad reason if they did.

I got it at my local bird store. All it had was a little tag with "care bear" on it. Just googled it and didn't show up at all. I can ask about it next time I'm in there if you'd like to see if I can find out who the maker is.
