So, my bird Flynn began barbering his feathers almost 3 weeks ago or so, and is a really heavy barber.
However, he is improving, and not just because he's running out of feathers.
He was started on Baytril and Metacam, because of suspected infection, I got him loads of balsa and cork to chew, made some more foraging toys for him to enjoy, removed the newest items from our living room, got him a UV lamp, figured out that he prefers background noise like the TV on most of the day, and made flock blocks to keep him occupied and happy during cage time...
At his worst, he barbered dozens of feathers in a day. Now, every so often he'll snip one or two off. Now hopefully, infection is the root of this, and we can get this habit kicked!
I love this little bird, feathers or no feathers.
