I'm going to drown my spirit in a bottle of Jack Daniels and knock it out for a while.
But please be careful and don't drink to much. It will not take away the pain, only give you a bad hangover.

I know some say that we should wait until we get a new animal if we lost one, and I was given that advice when I lost Eloy.
But it did hurt so much and when I heard Akela flock calling for him it didn't felt better.
I will never say that Eliy was a replacement for Eloy. But with Eliy to focus on it did help me more then I probably understand.
Their is never a right or a wrong what to do if we loose someone, we must do what we think are best for us.

Oh no, I’m so sorry to read this! Major was one lucky dog to have landed with you, but I know that you were also one lucky soul to have found such a true companion and friend. It sucks that they always have to leave us so soon, but of course I know you wouldn’t change one minute of it in order to ease the suffering you now feel. I hope in time your memories with him will make you smile, and that they will comfort you until you meet again at the bridge.

It’s a sad and bitter feeling that most of us know only too well! So very sad and yet it is a part of life that is a hard pill to swallow! May God bless your best friend and allow you to keep his memory forever in your heart, it is a blessing that will never leave you!

Has it been 6 years already!!?? Time flies when you're having fun and you and Major certainly did.
I remember when you "inherited" him and it quickly seemed like you two were meant to be together.
A friend like Major leaves a huge hole, and I'm so so sorry for you.

So sorry for hear of Major's passing. He sounded like your heart dog, like my 7 year old Chloe is. I dread the day Chloe passes, I'm not sure if I will survive life without her.

Aw s**t John. Major was a good dog and I know that it hurts you just as much that he was your last connection to your dad. Major was an old fashioned dog and those are the kind I love and your dad made him that way. Major will always be with you.

Major is now over the rainbow chasing little creatures to his heart's content.

I am so very sorry, John.

You really really loved him too. I remember thinking... A dog? Hmmm, how's he going to do with a dog?
It was like you had him forever in just a few days. I am so very sorry.

I'm walking around like a lost zombie this morning thinking "where's my dog?" I picked up his collar off the counter. I can smell him. Crying again.

You're the best friend I could ever ask for,

The one I can talk to.
You listen to everything I have to say;
I'm really going to miss you.

You're growing old
And can't walk as fast,
But don't you worry,
I won't forget about our past.

I love the comfort you offer,
Except when you chewed up my shoe.
But it's okay, we all make mistakes.
I'm really going to miss you.

We loved to play ball,
Chasing it down the hill.
You're the hairiest of them all,
But you still get the chills.

It's almost time to go.
Don't worry about me.
Just do it slow,
And forget about all the fleas.

I love you with all my heart,
The best friend I'll ever have.
I'm really going to miss you.
I love you, and that will never change.

Thank you. That was great.

But please be careful and don't drink to much. It will not take away the pain, only give you a bad hangover.
That's the whole point. :)

Only a small headache this morning. :)

John,

I totally get the smell thing.

I still have a baby blanket from Baron (he passed in the 80's). When my home was sold and I moved, I packed it .... I was in tears then and just couldn't just discard it.

I didn't realize Major came from your dad. I remember our family received grandma's dog and when Sissy passed away, that loss was really tough on us. It compounded the loss for us then and I'm sure it did for you.

I hope you get lots of hugs from your wife. You'll be in my prayers.

I too remember when you 'inherited' that farm dog.
How you feared he'd not fit into city life very well.
He showed you, and wiggled his way right into your heart.

You are a lucky man John.
Missing him yes, but filled with memories of the years you both shared.
