If you do get him, be sure to lock all the doors on his cage to make sure he doesn't escape

I have lived with a Goffins for almost 6 weeks and to be honest I'm not to sure I would do it again knowing what I know now ...don't get me wrong I love the lil guy but the screaming we have had to endure with him has been out of this world which can happen with any bird but I believe the Too family is abit more prone to it ...he is very sweet but when he doesn't get his way has no problems showing his displeasure ...I have had to find out the hard way that he is very stubborn ...I have never had so many bite wounds from one bird ...when he is being sweet he is the sweetest bird ..loves to be cuddled and petted ...and you would never know a demon lives under all that love ...:shifty:

I did several months of research before getting him and had years of prior Too experience with a Sulfur Crested Too I bird sat for in the past so I thought I had this ...how wrong I was ...nothing can prepare you for hours of nonstop screaming and getting bit bloody several times a day ...so thanks to several people here and more research I have gotten things more under control but its been he!! and my fam is/was very upset ...did I think about getting rid of him ..yep every day ...would I ...nope ..he is my responsibility and things are getting better ...he only screams in the morning ...when I get home from work ...when my daughter leaves and comes home from school /work ..a couple times in the evening and at bedtime ...and I don't get bit hardly at all anymore ..so you can fix these issues but its hard work ...:dead:

I know everything I have said sounds like my Ghost is an awful bird ..but he isn't just a challenge and really hard challenge and something I wasn't really prepared for and something a lot of my research before I got him didn't really hit on ..I write this to you because I want you to be prepared incase you get the lil guy you posted ...just because they are lil doesn't mean they are lil ...they are a big Too in a lil body everything that relates to a big Too relates to them ...I hope you get him they really are funny ..interesting ..sweet...lovable lil guys just be ready for the demon every now and then and you will be set ...:)

He's 30 years old, in perfect feather and flies well. That alone says this is a fairly well adjusted bird. No doubt from strong bloodlines.

A bird like that is also going to be confident in itself, manipulative and a hand full. He's also a male. Hormones are usually nastier.

However hard you thought it was going to be? Multiply by 10. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news. But I have heard that sometimes Goffins can be aggressive to other parrots especially smaller parrots. I have conducted a sort of impromptu poll HERE on AA.

Of the people that responded, two said that they must be careful of their G2 around smaller birds and one person said that their G2 is good around smaller birds.

Because the G2 is in a rescue, you might ask about taking the bird on condition. The condition being, he is not aggressive towards your other birds. You will need to be aware of the "honeymoon period". The G2 might not be aggressive for the first few months only to become more aggressive after-the-honeymoon-is-over.

I believe each bird has their own personality and because of that I would be asking why the bird is being re-homed. after all a bird can have a personality but if it's not socialised properly they can become a handful.

also cockatoos are one of the few birds that can dance to music.

I can ask why he wound up at the rescue, but he's not being rehomed. He's been at the rescue for awhile so they are simply trying to find a forever home. But like I said, after the home visit they determine which bird is a good fit, we foster for two months and at the end of the foster we decide if we would like to adopt or if we need to find a better fit. It's a long thought out process and one I'm not rushing into. I know how other cockatoos can be, but I also know that every bird deserves a chance to be loved.
