This is Loki! We've had Loki for two years now and adopted him from a rescue. He is around 6 years old but acts like he's 3 :) We wanted a pet for my daughters and he is perfect, playful but sometimes likes to snuggle. The bird and the weasel do not get along well but are learning to respect each other! IMG_2102.JPG IMG_2092.JPG IMG_2150.JPG

I LOVE ferrets... Illegal here but people still have them.

Ferrets are cute. And Loki sounds like a perfect name.

Just be very careful. Ferrets have been known to escape and kill a bird through the cage bars.

@zoo mom I had read horror stories like that, but it is 100% opposite at our house. Loki is learning to stay away from Fritz, Fritz grabbed Loki the other night by the neck and held him like that until I saw and told him to drop him
His beak wrapped all the way around Loki's neck, I'm just glad Fritz is gentle and didn't smoosh him!
For the time being, they aren't allowed floor time together anymore!

Cutie! My neighbor had one that I used to look after if she was away. He LOVED to hide in INSANE places to scare me and make me frantically search for him, I think. :wideyed:
He also used to steal shiny things and sneak them back to his bed, which I think it very adorable. Does Loki ever do that?

Please be careful...everything I have read has said do not have ferrets and birds in the same house period. My son had said something about wanting one years ago, but I already had birds in the house. I told him it was a no go...Hope all goes well....

They are very, very clever hunters. I have seen parrots maimed or killed by rats and ferrets. Definitely need to be extra cautious with them.

@Laura729 yes he steals things ALL THE TIME! His favorites to steal are little (or big) stuffed animals and hide them under the book case! He has a bunch of cat toys that he loves to hide all over. Our ferret is the most tolerant, snuggle little critter, he has never attempted to bite anyone, which is a heck of a lot more than I can say for the bird! Lol

@Tyrion and @Pipsqueak I think you missed the point of my post.

I know there has to be a balances between tough love and trying to keep the peace. Earlier today I wrote on a (one week old) member wall that I was hoping that we did not scare him/her away. I just sort of freaked when I saw an "OH HOW CUTE" post after I posted a pet killing pet response on the thread. Maybe I went a little overboard by calling people out.

In my humble opinion I feel that this is a time to make sure people know that what they are doing could wind up with a dead pet. AA also needs welcoming people too, I suppose if everyone here was like me and you-know-who then all members would be scared away.

Did you even read the thread you posted ..if you did then you would have known where I stand on this subject and would have taken my post for what is was ....just because you posted the kind of post you did doesn't mean I have to be apart of that conversation....they are cute pics of her daughters pet :)
