I got this idea from another bird lover online on one of the 4 forums I frequent. It isnt my original idea and if the person who originally did it is here then thank you cause batman LOVES these!

I stopped being slack and did some step by step pics of the corn husk foraging pockets

step one.. wash corn husks (if purchased from unknown supplier) bend the leaves back for a thorough clean

step two .. peel leaves and place treat onto one. I used a home made nutriberri for this one.

step three.. roll the treat, remember to fold in the edges or to use a second leaf and wrap from opposite direction.

step four.. pull a fine strip from one husk to use as a ribbon, place folded/rolled pocket on ribbon and then tie in a knot/bow

the finished product

and here a few I made up the last two times we have had corn. Some are filled with nutriberries, some with birdie bread, some with mixed vegetables or fruit and i think there is one in ther with a few sunflower seeds.
They freeze and defrost well :D

hehe batman never ever lets me photograph him eating, it drives me crazy.

Here is a destroyed one though from his birdie bread container.
I also peg them up around his cage on occasion too.

I have done these several times for the girls but they don't like them. :( They prefer their newspaper. I need to try again I guess. Looks like it might be corn for this weekend. LOL!

If your birds like newspaper you can also buy dried corn husks at a craft store or the mexican department at grocery store and put your treats in them and hang them around the cage. My birds like the crispiness of the dried husks. You can even take a whole dried corn husk and put seeds or pellets in it and tie it up with hemp cord and let them go to town:dance5:

Yes, I have used those too, and my girls didn't like the dried husks either. Really weird. I may try again. They are just newspaper girls I guess. LOL!

My parrotlets love the dried husks. The other day I took the whole dried husk and filled it with pellets and seeds and used hemp string to tie it up looks kinda like a mummy and the birds love them. I will be doing something and all of a sudden I hear crunch crunch crunck and then they throw the husk around and have a ball.:hehe:

We use those quite a lot too. You may want to tie a piece of paper around the corn husk roll and see if that stimulates them to go at these more. We buy oodles of the corn husks - they are cheap and really add nice crunch to everything.
