I see how to follow a member, but what all does that entail? Will I get an alert for every post they make or is there a way to follow them when they use a keyword or only when they start a thread? There are a couple of members I'd like to keep up with for a bit, but most of them are quite prolific posters.

Also, when I'm done following a member does it give them an alert that I've stopped following them? It's nice to see that someone is following you, but if I'm finished following someone I'd hate to hurt their feelings with a "faislaq is no longer following you" message. I would have to keep following them forever so I wouldn't upset anyone.

And any other details about following that I haven't thought of are appreciated.

No options, just changes the option from "Follow" to "Unfollow". I'll update this thread with what types of alerts I get.

You don't get alerts at all.
The thing with people you follow is that you are being friends.
The only way to contact me or see my profile page and post in my guestbook is to be friend with me. In that way I like this function.
And one thing too is that you see when a people you follow is online if you go to members page.

I use it to have certain peoples profile pictures show under "members online".

You do get a following message but not a unfilled message. No worries if you decide to unfollow. Lol

Today is the first time I've noticed this aspect of following. I always thought one's profile was either private or public to everyone. I let a friend know it was another member's birthday, but my friend was unable to see that member's profile. I just figured if I could see it everyone could, and when I couldn't see it, no one else could either.

Now I see under Settings, my Privacy options are all set to "Members Only" but there's also the option of "People You Follow Only".

You told me and it still didn't register. I'm lucky AA is filled with patient, understanding people who put up with my slow self.
