Hello, I recently got my very first bird who is a yellow sided green cheek Conure. He came from a breeder and he'll eat from my hand through the cage bars and even when he's out of his cage. He runs away when I try to pet him and haven't held him yet. I know that relationships with parrots can take a while until they trust you. I was wondering what the next few steps in the right direction would be and how to accomplish each one? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! Just take things slow. If he takes treats from your hands that's already a great start. Just keep that up. Try to spend time just sitting with him and talking to him. Let him hang out with you. Maybe play with a toy or read a magazine, etc. while he's out. Something that he may be curious about and want to come and check out.
