I wanted to share how I am memorializing blackbird. She died 3 or so months ago, but I am just now giving her feathers a decent resting place. I collected her feathers during her first molt (thinking I'd have enough to fill a pillow some day) and kept them after she passed. She was buried, as I couldnt afford cremation at the time. I gave 2 or 3 of her first feathers back to her (she was buried with them), but kept the rest. They were kept in a plastic bag until I got her an urn. Today, I bought a small urn and placed her feathers into them. So Blackbird finally has a safe place for her feathers =)
I think feathers are a great replacement for ashes. They could also be used to make dream catchers or be framed.

I am so sorry you lost your baby:sadhug2::sadhug2::sadhug2:
I think it is really beautiful what you did! I Buried Tiki in a cloth, I don't know how to explain it, together with a few of his Feathers, flowers and a letter. I Buried him under a tree, in a place I consider very beautiful, there is wildlife, there is a forest, a den and there are fields and I pass by there rugularly. I planten sunflowers in the shape of a heart on top of where I Buried him.
I Keep all the Feathers I have left in a small box. I keep all the bird Feathers in that little box. Right before Tiki passed away I gave away a lot of his Feathers because I thought I still had years together with him, that was a dangerous assumption and I regret I gave his Feathers away.

We love them while we can:)

One of the reasons why I keep all of Pilos feathers, and have done ever since he became one of the family!

I know there are no guarantees in life and want to make sure that I will always have his presence with me!

Give them your heart and they will bless you with theirs, no matter where they are in Gods plan.
