I decided to make a salad, and had almost nothing to put in it except spinach and watercress. Anticipating eating next to Duckie, I put the dressing at the bottom of the bowl, and the spinach and watercress on top.
Of course he came right over to investigate, and was disappointed. But I started eating the plain leaves and saying MMMMM! GOOD TREAT!! And then handed him some pieces.
He looked at me like:
You can't be serious.
But I persisted in my enthusiasm, and sharing, and finally, he started chewing up his bites instead of dropping them, and then started chewing, and chewing. UNTIL THE WHOLE LEAF WAS FINISHED!
It's been years tricking him into greens by blending them with a little fruit.
Moral of the story: Never give up.
I am so happy.
