Does anyone else here have a Chuckwalla?

I just got my girl about a week ago. We were after a bearded dragon but I fell in love with this little girl and we ended up getting her instead.

Basic care suggests they are close in husbandry to Beardies, with less of a protein requirement.

I was hoping someone else could give me a couoke of pointers. We have her in a decent sized enclosure with hot and cool ends and your basic uvb and basking bulbs.

She is on a diet of fresh collard greens, peas, carrots, green beans, dandelion flowers, and various other vegetables and greens.

So the Chuckwalla is a vegetarian? She is a nice looking lizard.

And now she's being a picky eater, and going off her greens which are supposed to be a staple of her diet. She seems to prefer things that are yellow and orange right now xD
I'll just have to outlast her.

I don't have one, but I had to click this thread to find out what one is! I had no idea it was a critter in the first place. :D Neat looking little girl.

Do you know what species of chuckwalla she is? different species require different care, and some species get *much* bigger than a beardie. :)

I wish chuckwallas were more readily available since they're vegetarians. There are few vegetarian/mostly vegetarian lizards available that make good pets. I don't count green iguanas, which aren't for most people. I've looked into the uromastyx, which I see locally on occasion.

Good luck.

There are some good breeders out there I can point out a few if you like.
Cool. Yeah; send me a PM with the breeder you used. Thanks!

I got my pointers from my HERP group and a few collectors and breeders.

And yes she has been to the vet and is eating normally again.
