My canary has bald spot on both side of her head for couple weeks. Just yesterday, there is a nodule or cyst under her RIGHT eye. It is swollen to the point where her eye is almost shut. I think it's some kind of infection because there is a little bit of discharged. Anyone with similar experience or heard of. Thanks

I wanted to but did not have a chance yet (in school). Anyway, does anyone have an ideas of how much it cost to bring a canary for checkup (price range) ? I have never bring a bird in before. Thanks

it should be at least 100.00 for sure..it sounds like an infection and needs to be attended to by a vet or it will get worse

It could be a seed/hull that is lodged there. Susanne has posted about this. I will send her a message to look at the thread. Can you post a photo? It is not right for a canary to have a bald spot under each eye. How long has it been this way? What is his environment like-how clean? What are you feeding him?

I think you need to try to get to the vet ASAP before things get worse...if it is an infection, hopefully meds will take care of it.

If you can post some pix's it sure would help. As to the bald patches were the surrounding feathers wet or dry? If wet, posdsibly a sinus infection. if dry possibly at mite problem.

Where I live, the exam fee would be around $50
Then, if it is an infection, the antibiotics would be about $20
Make sure you take your canary to an Avian vet. We can help you find one close.
