Hello! I just got a new budgie yesterday, that both myself and the pet store employee thought to be a female. I've read articles and looked at photos of budgie ceres, but I'm still not quite sure. "Her" cere is very light, but also solid throughout in its pink(ish) colouration.
Thank you!

I am an expert and you have a 100% no question whatsoever female budgie there.

Female ceres range from pale blue to tan to white to dark brown.
Male ceres range from pink to purple to a dark blue.
This bird's cere is firmly in the pale blue to white range.

That is not what the article that I sent her said.

Thank you for your replies! It looks a lot different in these photos. Thoughts?
The lighting seems to change her cere colour entirely. This bird is confusing me.

Yeah, it does look a little different in those photos. And in that second set of pictures, your feathered friend looks a lot like a female to me. Your Budgie looks young, and a young female’s cere is usually very light blue or white, which it seems yours has. A young male Budgie’s cere would be pink or purple.

Thank you all for your replies! I'll be sure to post pictures of her after her first moult to confirm.
She is such a gorgeous bird. Thanks, Budgiebonkers, for telling me her colour mutations!
