Saw the title and was expecting a feathered hawk but yours looks more like a dragonfly (generic term, I'm sure) but beautiful to watch. Plus they eat mosquito larvae if I remember, so they get extra Brownie points for that.

Awesome shots. Years ago at my old house I got some good shots of a dragon fly resting on the half barrel of plants and things in the backyard. He wasn't as color full as your guy but I thought they turned out nice too.

Dragonflies are the coolest bugs. I love them in my backyard, knowing they're eating those dastardly mosquitos! Great photos!

Since we're on the subject of dragonflies, I've had friends who've told me they bite. I've never been bitten by a dragonfly - has anyone here ever been bitten? They are beautifully gracious and almost transparent unless you are paying attention to detail and are aware of the wildlife around you (and above).

I've never been bitten, but I am told that if you manage to grab one, it can bite. I am also told they won't go out of their way to land on you and bite. They do so in self defense.
