Cinnamon GCC chick

My little Cinnamon Green Cheek chick had a freak accident and died this morning. It was 6 weeks old, just starting to fly and already ready to go to a forever home. I keep the chicks in my office during the day while I work and it was on top of the cage. It was just starting to fly, and it got up to the top of the curtains. When I reached for it, it jumped and flew off behind the office door. I opened the door to get it out and heard a squawk. It's little head was between the door and the frame and when I opened the door, it broke its neck.
My other half said accident happen, and they do, but a quick look down would have prevented it.
It was over quick, but I feel horrible over it. Be at peace little one.

Poor guy...rotten luck...so young...nothing you could do...how could you know his head was in the door jam...gosh...you could have even looked & in an instant he could have run into the corner.
Things happen & it really irks me too how of all the possibilities the thing that is the most miniscule & inconceivable with little chance of happening just seems to happen...yet I never win the lottery!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm sorry that you are feeling so bad about it. I've had my share of baby bird accidents and, though it's no consolation to you, no matter how prepared one is to keep everyone safe the little fids find or do something fatal to themselves. Hugs to you.
