Cinnamon Chicks

I've been waiting a long time for these cinnamon chicks to hatch! LOL.

Cinna-Minnie and Buddy laid 6 fertile eggs, and I was going to wait to post pictures when they were all hatched, but I just can't wait to share! So far, 5 chicks have hatched, and Cinna-Minnie is doing a great job at keeping them all warm and fed.

As of right now, I can tell that 3 out of the 5 will be visual Cinnamons!

I have that same nest box do you leave the black part off and keep the clear plastic in it or do you lift the black piece up to see in then put it back?

I leave it on until most of the chicks are hatched. That way momma isn't nervous about the "open-ness" of it and will sit on her eggs and feed young chicks. Once the chicks are big enough and demanding all her attention, she doesn't have time to be bothered by it.

Some more baby pics! Here are the three oldest chicks, who have started to feather up.
Chick #1 is the only one out of the entire nest that isn't a Cinnamon, and the lucky little one already has a home lined up for when he's ready.

When Cinnamon chicks hatch, they have a dark plumb colour eye, instead of a normal black eye. It's a bit tricky to notice at first, but once you see the difference, it's pretty obvious. I wish i had a good comparison picture to show you!

Those pictures are adorable, it was just last year in June that I first laid eyes on my two Lovebird babies that looked just about the same as these little guys. Partly down and partly pin feathers.........I think this is my favorite age of the baby stage. They look like tiny dinosaurs. So clumsy and cute. Great job with the camera.........congratulations!

MORE PICS !

Chick #1 is now named "Karl", even though she is female. LOL. Her new owner already has a female named "Steve", so I see a trend here. Karl will be going home in a few short weeks.

Wow, These chicks are keeping me BUSY! I've barely had time to log on here, so I apologize for the lack up updates.

The chicks are all grown up now, and are almost ready to go to new homes.
