I'm so sorry! If I may pass on a tip to anyone that has a bird get out:

My baby flew out the front door when my ex came by to drop off keys to my son and he left the door open for 2 minutes. Yes, he was in major doghouse. I was devastated to say the least, that was at 10:30am on a Saturday. I ran through the woods( big stretch of woods around and behind me) and every nearby yard calling her and even stood on my roof. Hours went by and no sight of her. I felt so defeated but then we saw her fly from a nearby tree to another tree. Even though she is fully flighted and a Velcro bird, with all the calling, she didn't respond to us or come to us. My son was looking up everything he could on the internet on his phone and he told me he read they will become very quiet and still as a self protection and we had to track her and the best time to get them to come down was at dusk. Sure enough, 8 hours later of our tracking her, feeling hopeless, she dived down to us at dusk.

We pretty much camped outside all day and I believe that was key. We may not have always seen her but she saw us and was too scared to move or try to fly down to us until later in the day- probably was getting hungry.
I cannot stress enough that if this happens to someone, park yourself outside and don't go inside. Keep yourself visible all day no matter how long it takes!

I am so sorry for what happened to you. It is tragic. The fact yours was clipped should help others see that even a clipped bird can fly which so many think clipping keeps them from escaping.

I'm so sorry... thats absolutely terrible... How's Opal doing with the loss?

So many birds have been escaping in ME recently, there was a found blue budgie at Seymores bird refuge around a month ago, and a parrotlet escaped recently as well :(

Opal hasn't been as loud and active as she use to be. She's been eating more seeds and pellets, and started refusing her veggies and her breakfast chop.
