Chaz our hybrid Macaw is poorly

chaz makes me laugh these days. He is feeling so much better he flies from the top of one cage to another rather than be towelled and fed. this really got to me so I just said to him "Give this up and step up!" He caved in like a lemon and stepped onto my finger and allowed me to put the towel around him, that made my heart melt.
Once I see him putting on lots of condition he can do it alone but until we carry on having cuddles, formula and it can take as long as he wants!

Tonight he had a night fright after being covered and resting for a few hours. I had to rush into their room and put the light on and calm him down.He ended up blowing me kisses, but left me wondering is something up and about to rear its ugly head again or was it a one off?
Got Steve to cut down the noise upstairs from his computer game incase it had helped to upset Chaz's sleep.
He has settled again now but that was something quite new. Never been any trouble at night before.

chaz is his usual cheerful self this morning so perhaps the night fright was a "one off" will keep a good eye on him and his getting better will not be from the want of trying at least.
Steve says he is putting on some condition now also, so must be paying off the feeding regularly etc.
Will keep it up awhile longer to make sure as he is still asking for help and that is alright by me. Going to miss the regular cuddles and feeds but maybe he will come for a fuss anyway.

Well an update on dear Chaz who is doing so well. He is still on his formula and is putting on a lot of condition but still wanting the help from me it seems. Do not want him to suddenly go it alone and lose some weight as he needs to be just a little bit better than he is at present to be able to do that in comfort I am thinking. I am no expert but play it a lot by ear and common sense, it is usually a safe combination and works for me.
Will be pleased when his feathers grow back on his chest front.

Had a good laugh thinking of the day I squirted some of Chaz's formula from the syringe trying to get rid of the air and it landed on our wooden ceiling. There I was having to scrub that off later, the things we go through to look after our pets.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! Last night Chaz threw a wobbly and refused to go back into his cage for bed. He went for me and the stick that we use to get Jay to step up on to go in and out of his cage.
In the end I lost my rag and told him to "step up and stop his nonsense". He stepped up like a lemon and went in no problem. Today he is back to his amiable self again. think it was like a toddler having a tantrum last night! He is so much better now and behaving nothing like he has ever done before. Think it is a case of him coming into his own and showing his true nature at long last, wonderful.

two cardboard boxes last approx two days with Chaz before becoming all lacy looking with lots of cardboard confetti all over the place! So happy he is getting back to business and never thought he would be well enough to do it ever again.

The last few nights the only way Chaz will go into his cage for covering for sleep is by me towelling him. Gone are the days of stepping up and being deposited onto his perch. He is not going in any other way and that is that. Ah well!
