It is with great pleasure that I announce the
Celebirdy for the month of November 2017,
Lisa's (MiniMacaw) Bowser!!!!!!
Here's what Lisa had to say about the awesome and adorable Bowser...
My husband came across an ad for a little blue and gold macaw for sale. The picture that accompanied the ad drew his attention and he showed it to me right away. The photo showed Bowser with his fresh beak injury and the garage he was kept in with his rabbit cage behind him.
2. What is your bird's name, age and sex?
Bowser was born June 7th 2016 and he is a male.
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
Bowser doesn’t necessary do tricks but he does like to put his wing on my head when I say “be the wind Bowser.” This was not a planned trick lol.
4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods?
Bowser loves bird breads and mashes most. Here’s a photo of his very first bite of mash when I first brought him home.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
Bowser likes to clown around on the curtains. He never ruins them, just enjoys hanging upside down and playing peek a boo with me.
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
Bowser has enriched my life in so many, many ways. He knows when I’m sad or angry or happy. We just connect and there’s not a day he doesn’t make me laugh.
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
I would tell people considering this species to be very flexible with your expectations. A being as intelligent as a macaw will test you and your patience...frequently lol but it will all be worth it. Be prepared for their energy and play needs. Bowser needs lots of daily play time and encouragement to keep him feeling confident and happy.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
Bowser is not a loud bird in regard to frequency of calls. He can be loud, but it’s very rare. Big thunder has caused him to scream a couple times but other than that he makes soft sweet sounds. His activity level has really grown since he first came home. He uses every inch of the aviary to swing from and play and when he’s out and about in the house he never really stops lol. He’s learning to fly and he takes corners very well now considering how his wings looked before.
9. What are some of your bird's quirks?
Bowser doesn’t fit the mold of “typical” macaw behavior. He hates ANY loud noise at all. He only likes calm, soft talk. He doesn’t like loud music or fast moving or being rambunctious around people other than me.
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence he or she has said?
The most surprising/funny thing Bowser has said to me was “hi beautiful tiny blue dinosaur.” Lol I hadn’t realized I called him it that often.
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Bowser loves nuts, but his favorite are walnuts and pine nuts.
