Ours has dark, matted upper beak and forward head feathers. She's fine otherwise. We feel so bad for her; anything at home we can apply to help, i.e. vaseline, etc. Thanks kind Canary people!

How about Apricot balm or baby oil? We're trying to stay holistic AND the nearest avian vet is hundreds of miles away. Our dogs go to a Dr. Pol kind of vet so assumed he saw birds too!

I don't think you should try to fix the feathers with anything. They will either fix themselves, are supposed to be that way or it will just be your bird's unique trait.
