Is there any caique owner on this forum who doubts their birds absolute determination to get what they want?

After cleaning out her second failed clutch while I was on holidays, Cha_Cha started a new one this morning.

It wasn't a surprise. She's been remodeling her nestbox for days.

If anyone is wondering what is fuelling this marital activity, it's a spinach and kale based fruit smoothie.

Update Jan 31st

4 eggs in incubator. I removed them as Cha-Cha laid to protect them from the nightly football games in the nestbox, which were damaging them.

As I removed new eggs, I replaced them with known infertile ones from the brooder

Result:
4 eggs in the incubator. 2 look fertile, hatchdays in early Feb.

4 eggs in the nest, two infertile, two unknown, laid this week. The football has stopped. The new eggs are undamaged so I will leave them with her, unless that changes

I think she will go for 5 eggs, like she did last time

So it looks like a busy Feb for Papa

lol
