Caique and Macaws

Wondering if Caiques and Macaws do okay in the same house or not.

Only if you never allow them to be together outside their individual cages. The basic rule with parrots is to never let parrots with different size beaks outside the cage together. A large bird such as a macaw can kill a Caique in an instant. Never had a Caique, but i understand they have an unreal opinion about their size and are fearless. Unfortunately, macaws will become cranky for no reason and strike out at a little bird just like they would with another macaw.

I’d never let Tibs out when Sam is out, and I don’t let Sam out when Tibs is out. They coexist pretty well in their own space, but I’d be too nervous to let them out at the same time. Caiques are a bit bigger than a Conure but, even still, they’re tiny compared to a Macaw.
