i am currently building a large planted aviary for my parakeets. I would like to keep a few button quail (also called Chinese Painted Quail) in the aviary as well. I have had buttons in the past and they are lovely little birds. They were housed with finch at the time and I never had any problems from them. I hear that they can co-habitat with budgies, as long as there is sufficient space and the needs of both species are properly addressed.

Does anyone have experience keeping budgies and button quail together? Did they get along alright?

I knew a lady that had cockatiels and buttons together in an aviary, they never bothered each other, not sure about parakeets.

Mine got along just fine. I would provide an enclosed space with a roof that the quail can escape if the need arises. Mine never showed any problems
