Bottom for Outdoor Aviary

I'm building an outdoor aviary for my birds so that they can hang outside with me (always supervised of course), and I'm not too sure about the bottom. Having playsand coat the bottom of the aviary would make it easy to clean, and I could easily replace it every few months. However? I'm scared that my birds might ingest it because they like to play on the ground as often as they do on their perches. Is playsand a safe bottom for an aviary, or is there a better bottom that I can use as the floor of my aviary?

No to the playsand. They will eat that stuff it won't be sanitary either when they start pooping in there and you walking on it. Best is to put down a concrete slab and can use a power washer on that or next would be to use paving bricks.
