She was doing really great. Saturday slowly started vomiting again. Been using Metacam and Cisapride. Hoping this morning isn’t more weight loss. I’m so depressed that I don’t even want to go wake her up to find out.
I have so many people telling me to do different things. My head just spins and I’m terrified I’ll lose her. If I sleep, it’s all nightmares. This is torture to us both.

She rebounded a little this morning. Weight up so down only 9 grams from last week. Didn’t vomit at all last night and had oatmeal before bed. Back off Cisapride for this morning and gave Metacam. This is a rollercoaster.

You have a good vet so try not to be overwhelmed by outside influence. Any suggestions you receive should be discussed with your vet, FB members are not vets. ;)

I would ask your vet about prozyme. It's an enzyme that will aid her in breaking down her food so more nutrients can be digested. I've used it with a few of my underweight birds with great sucess. Sprinkle a bit on her food and done.

One day at a time.

Please ask about Celebrex...it calms the inflammation in the stomach.

One vet said they used Celebrex and saw increased kidney counts over time on multiple birds. I’m leery of trying just yet

My Jasper has been on Celebrex for pain for a couple of years now. Because of her chronic health issues she goes to the vet every six months and there has been no change in her Chem Panel (nor CBC) values. Metacam, over time. affects the kidneys as well. Jasper was on Metacam for several years and it did a good job, but my vet feared that she had been on it too long and her kidney health was at risk.

Bornavirus remains a mystery. As Sarah said, many people probably have a "positive" bird and don't even know it because of no symptoms. There are reputed to be several strains with varying degrees of severity; the bornavirus test itself is suspect and known to give false positives. However, since your bird is vomiting, it obviously has something going on. You've received good medical advice from Sarah and Mary Lynn; I can't add to that. Hang in there and deal with one day at a time. You're on a rollercoaster ride with days good and bad to come. I feel for you.

I just had a bird with increased kidney counts on metacam. They are all different. I would not neglect to try it.

Willow hasn’t had a pukefest in over three weeks. She’s back up to 313 grams. (270 when she was at the vet) She’s happy, letting feathers grow back, and acting as if it never happened at all. I’ll take it while I can get it. Thank you all for the support.

I would recommend that you follow your Vet's advice! If you are not comfortable with that then possibly look into a 2nd top rated Avian Vet.

Yes, definitely follow your vet's instructions. Discuss any advice given you by others with him/her and if she/he dismisses that advice just wash it out of your head and don't think about it any longer. That includes any advice I may give you. Keep up the good work.

And most important of all - enjoy her every minute.
