I'm so so sorry to hear this.
Last year (June 21st) my hahn's macaw passed away. My daughter was 2, almost 3. It was really difficult to explain where he went and what happened to him, so i understand. She came up with a story about him turning into a doctor birdy to fly around and help other sick or hurt birdies. She still refers to him as a doctor bird. It kind of helps to think that, even if I know better.
So sorry for your loss.
Its something how a few seconds can change our lives forever.
Flying into walls, mirrors, or glass is every parronts nightmare as it can happen to any of us & out of our control.
I know you were trying so hard to keep the family together even when one of them not sure which was screaming & attacking your hubby & now this unfortunate accident.
Hopefully your baby will have some understanding that accidents happen & sometimes things we love have to go away.
I guess you will have to try to assure him that it won't happen to Mommy & Daddy.
I'd still make sure the cats room can't be opened by the toddler as it would be an additional burden on them to have accidentally caused it by letting the cats out. Cats are fast & all he has to do is peak in on them & they are out.
How is Jingo doing today?
