try this the next time you go to the pet store. I did this at Tampa Zoo. I called a high pitched Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooo and then tap with a pencil on piece of wood or shelve. this was the reaction I got at the zoo. the keepers there were like WoW, he is calling back to a human.
Does one need a permit to own these birds in Australia . From what I understand Australia has very strict laws about avian ownership. Is he at Crystal Pet & Wire or Living Jungle? I've seen a few black cockies there over the years. Beautiful bird & beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing
Wow! what a thrill that must be. Love it !Gorgeous!
We used to get yellow tailed black cockatoos in our yard, and they were lovely too
We need this kind of regulation in the U.S... and some kind of class on species before just anyone can buy. Hopefully that would cut down on the overflow in rescues, and abused & abandoned birds.Gorgeous!
In Victoria, at least, one would need to apply for an advanced private wildlife licence in order to own one of these birds (we have licence requirements for pretty much every native animal, bar a few basic ones such as blue-tongues and birds like budgies, cockatiels, and some lorikeets and rosellas).
OMG!!! Gangs Gangs... Totally green with envy now! They were great, but they stopped coming round after the tree who's nuts they came to eat got felled in a storm-- there were about ten or so of them, and they sure made the front gate a noisy place to walk through
But you never know, they might come back someday-- we got gang-gangs for the first time this year, so anything's possible
