The wood itself is hard. My tiels are able to pick the bark off of the branches, so the bark isn't too hard.
Perfect that is what I wanted to hear!

Wow excellent! I will have to place an order and see if my flock likes it.

Edit: Wow, what a great deal on that starter pack! I couldn't pass it up, just placed the order. I'm so excited to let my flock try this and see how they like it!

YES! Actually, if the leaves, or branches with leaves on, are frozen, it's like time STOPS, completely -- when they're removed from the freezer, even months later, they look, and smell, almost EXACTLY like they did when you put them in! Try it, it's kinda magical. :dance5:

(wholesale accounts and quantity discounts available... just ask)

It's a wonderful, natural way to scent a room or bird play area. Of course, the added bonus of the leaves & wood to chew/rip apart!
Saroj....there is a pic of my YNA, Diego on their web site - scroll down this page to see Diego chewing on a huge branch full of euc leaves!

Beautiful bird, Doris! If anyone else wants their picture on our site, just send it over! (it would be nice if there were Eucs in the pic too, but not absolutely necessary).
Thanks!

My little guys loved the sample pack I got awhile back.
As the leaves dried, I put them in different toys and the linnies loved nibbling on them!
I want to get various sized branches, with leaves next.
Oh and anyone with rats or chins, they love the little sticks that come with the sample pack!;)

Anyone have any ideas on how to offer eucalyptus to birds when you also have dogs who can't have eucalyptus and would love to try it if they found it?

Give it to them to play with in a room without the dogs and then clean up any mess before allowing the dogs to re-enter that room.

Not likely. The smell and taste of Eucalyptus leaves are not particularly appealing to dogs. They might rip the leaves off a branch and play with the wood. You have to remember Carole that Eucalypts are the dominant tree in Australia and I'm yet to hear of a dog dying from them. If we throw a stick for a dog to fetch 99 times out 100 it will be from a eucalyptus tree of some description because that is what we are most likely to find. It's not something I'd be at all concerned about. :)

The trial package arrived today.
I picked it up and had to stay at work for 2 more hours.
I couldn't believe, when I walked to my car- so nice aroma!

Lucky chew the stick and I hang already fresh leaves in the aviary with toys.

We love it! You have me as returning customer for sure!
Eucalyptus is healthy for us too.

Pictures and more when I have opportunity :)

My early morning hike takes me through a Euc grove. I'll break off a branch tomorrow and see how it goes over. Thanks for all the info. So far, all I've been using is from the Bay tree in our backyard.

Yes, that has been our experience as well, with our 3 doggies. The only thing they care about the Eucs, is to go fetch a branch! However, I have heard of people putting Euc leaves or seed pods in/around their dog or cats' bedding, or stringing the pods together to hang around their neck, to keep fleas away.
