I know...just a paper cut... But it still hurts...



Joey monster nailed my index finger. Since he got his new cage he has been very territorial..I was attempting to put a kale leaf his the cage...and he did not want it in there.....
Ok now you can laugh at it minutia-ness....

I know that grinding tearing deep into your flesh feeling.


Got much worse from a Meyers. They also don't let go & do the grinding chomp chomp thing like a piranha!!!! You have to try to pry them off then pick them up with a stick as they are in attack mode.
A few times she latched onto a drumstick I used for emergencys & would not let go.
Kept attacking it like a mad viper pitbull.
Had to put her & the drumstick in the cage & she continued attacking & biting it & rolling with it like a croccodile!
Not in the same category as a too but still very painful & bad enough to leave scars.

Pionus do the same thing as I've said here already and can do a surprising amount of damage when they want to make a point.

I think it must depend on the bird. My Meyer's and Pionus are just straight biters, draw blood almost every time but no grinding. Mind you, Tiki RARELY bites and it is usually by accident, trying to bite a paper towel or over excited for an almond treat (when we were clicker training). Quack (TAG) was a grinder. I'm thinking it was because I wasn't reacting so she would hold on and grind down to get a reaction. Luckily she didn't do that on my lip as there was enough damage as it was! Darwin is (was) a straight biter but doesn't bite much any more. Pogo was a gentle biter, very rarely any blood and I didn't know what real biting was until I got Quack!

Yeah Ernie bit hubby while I was away, I asked for a photo and it was embarrassingly teeny. But I know it's the grinding down that hurt him.

I would like to use some of your pictures in a booklet that the clinic I go too is making up for new owners of birds. Dr. Tony is really trying to stress to new owners that parrots are not for the weak hearted. @JLcribber , @saroj12 , @WendyN and anybody else that will allow their pictures to be used.
