I don't do new years resolutions.. however, every year end I like to find a way to treat everyone in my life better. 2017 is my year to focus on myself and Felicia.

So part of that is redoing and upgrading Felicia's house. Right now I'm working 6 days a week and 10-14 hour days. I have noticed that this makes her more clingy and more upset.
This is the long n hard decision for what I believe will be the best cage for both her and I. The interior height of the new cage is 60".

I want to get everything together and ready before I grab the cage so she can be with me for the install.

I cut up Lilac branches today. Washed and scrubbed them, soaked them for a bit, rinsed them off and then decided to take a potato peeler to them. (Not joking, it worked better than the knife I had..)

After. These are all about 1"-1 1/4" in diameter.
The lil one is about 11 inches and the thickest. The other two are about 42" and 43" and the multi branch is closer to 47" but I'm sure it will be trimmed a bit.

I plan on taking a boing I made (that Felicia ignores ) and stretching it out as well as moving her other rope perch for sleeping. I want to get a large platform perch and a stone flat perch as well.

No SS hardware yet as I want the branches to dry before I drill only to crack them

I truly hope so. She's not unhappy now as she gets most of the day with the ability to be out of her cage and she gets any time that I'm home and she's awake on me..

But i'm excited to see how she changes and progresses with a larger cage. I know the one she's in now is about twice as big as what she had when I rescued her and infact I had to let her stay in her long term travel cage for awhile to warm her up to it.

I hope she warms up to this one quickly, but I know I can't rush such things

Bronze wings have stolen my heart...But I am lucky to have the best bird for me even if Rio
is not a touchie bird. He's quiet.

Is lilac safe? Not commonly used for birds.
Never really thought of using it but we don;t have it in CA as I think its a cold weather shrub.

But, as of tonight I have

The rubber floor mat to go under her cage
a clear mat that I have to cut to go on top of her cage
an order from A Bird Toy
an order from Bird on the Rocks
an Etsy shipment of birch braches
the auction items from gibson
an order of vet wrap to cover any rope I don't want her chewing on

I'm still waiting on

the other half of my SS gift
the auction from tweeties
the auction from Parrot Hotel
my fabric for her custom cage cover
and 1/4" pretty pine wood rounds from Russia to use instead of washers on her braches and the rock perch..

When I get paid on Friday, I also have to head out and grab hardware to change the boing I made her into a perch for inside (she dislikes boings..)
and hardware for the staircase I want to make her to the bottom of the cage to the middle. Also have to grab peg board to stick on the bottom 1/4 of her cage so she doesn't chew a doggies nose off

I'm still looking for old phone books for her, once in a while she gets a look and drags paper up from the bottom of her cage.

I really can't wait to show you all the finished product. Today we were practicing walking on the new things that have come in the mail for her.
