I have a 1 year old green quaker parrot. I'm looking for the best possible commercial seed/pellet diet for him. Are any of the cockatiel foods okay for him, or, are there better things for him? As I said, I want the best brand and contents to feed him.
Thanks a lot!

I don't know if what I'm feeding is the absolute best but I just aim for for as much variety as I can get my little guy to eat.

He gets mostly zupreem natural pellets every morning but sometimes he eats roundybush or harrisons, if I'm lucky. He seems to really prefer the zupreem.

Then he also gets a veggie kabob and sproutrd seeds during the day. The seeds are from the Sprout people.

When I get home from work he gets a plate of veggies with a tiny bit of fruit and quinoa, .Sometimes he gets some cooked beans or egg but not everyday. Plus more sprouts and more pellets after he finishes his veggies.

He also gets a couple of nutriberries and nuts to forage for during the day while I'm at work.

Please post a pic of your quaker when you get a chance! I love quakers!

Mine get 1 tbsp of pellets, 1-2 tbsp of veggies, and either 1/2 tsp or 1-2 nutriberries a day. They are prone to fatty liver disease so keeping seeds as a small portion of of the diet is a good idea.

Pellet wise, I feed everything except Kaytee and TOPS. The first because i disagree with their company, the 2nd because it's not a true pellet in that it's not a complete diet. I prefer natural pellets to colored, but otherwise, feed what the bird likes. Right now we are doing a mix of Zupreem naturals, Caitec ovenfresh, and Lafeber Daily. We go for the cockatiel size.
