I noticed last night that my one month old lovebird squints his left eye while keeping the right one open. theres no discharge or anything and he is eating and playing as if nothing is wrong. he will open it for awhile and then go back to squinting. do you think he hurt it somehow? the soonest ill be able to visit a vet is monday. what should i do in the meanwhile? should i even be worried?
he is just starting to fly and he fell on the floor in a corner and there was some dust and stuff. im scared now. please let me know what yall think.

Squinting or closing one eye?
Young chicks will sometimes sit with one eye closed and one open. I have seen all of my birds do it. They grew out of it once they were a few months old.

Also, I don´t believe that your lovebird of four weeks is flying. Maybe a mix up on his age?

alittle over a month probably closer to 5 or 6 weeks. fully feathered and just starting to explore solid food. but he seems to be closing his eye at times and kinda squinting at other times. but then he will open it fully for a while. but thete definitely seems to be something wrong but he isnt showing any other signs of discomfort or illness.
I apologize btw. just now realized this isnt the thread for emergencies.

Sorry, I edited my comment after I posted it to add in;

If you think it is not the usually sleepy one eye closed, then a vet visit is a good idea.
I hope it´s nothing too major ❤
In the meantime, maybe offer a dish of clean water to bathe in?

You can request a MOD move the thread if you want it moved

Monitor him, any squinting, redness, discharge, etc then take him to the vet.
Remember he will probably squint while snacking on millet.

My lovebird chick also tends to either squint one eye or have one eye closed. There’s never been any trauma to him or his eye, but if you’re worried about dust particles the vet is definitely a good choice. You can also ask other vets, even those who are not specialists in avian care, to take a look at the eye and have it flushed out with a sterile saline solution if necessary if you are really concerned about it over the weekend

Aren't we fortunate to have experienced members here? My lovebird hen is laying her first (sterile) clutch and if I didn't know Zara or someone with her experience I'd be an nervous wreck!

I got him at about 4 weeks old - he was my first bird :) I got Jaime as a chick too.
You obviously know Ade, Lapis and Nube were all born in my home. And Aldora was found, so she is the only bird that joined our family as an adult.
