Arms are good, hands are bad

  • I have a retired breeder bird rescue. He's getting pretty tame but he will NOT under any circumstance sit on a hand or finger. He will unhesitatingly jump onto an arm but that isn't always convenient as it can make it hard to get him from his favored high places. He's not a big bird, he's a Mulga parrot. Does anyone else have or had a bird like this? What do you do? I've tamed several birds and have never seen this behavior. I'm sure it comes from a fear of hands in his past.

Cover your hand with something and see if that works. Same thing to you... Just a little different. :)
