Are willow buds safe?

I have a bunch of kitty willow branches (with the furry buds on them) lying around. I saw that it's safe for tiels, does that include the fluffy buds as well? Cos I was considering putting it in their cage and my 2 will most certainly try eating them haha

Update: I put a small one in the cage and they spent the first hour huddled in the cage as if I had just placed a hawk in there with them :arghh: I had to take it out in the end!

My mum used to tell me the fluffy buds would grow into little lambs and other animals, wondering if the birds heard this story too? :blink:
