@Zara all three of you are my heroes!! Thank you for taking charge and taking care of this little one in need. He doesn’t yet know how just how lucky he is  I so hope that wing isn’t as bad as it looks. How heartbreaking to learn of the Quaker euthanasia practices!

I was up late worrying about it. It didn´t look good the way the vet could move it. I don´t want to be a negative Nelly but it´s hard. You can see in the pics and the video that it´s bad.. The xray will hopefully shine some light onto what this birds future may look like.
I hope and pray that he can be released... but the likelyhood of that seems slim. But who knows, maybe a miracle will happen?

I get on a plane in 21 hours, I hope we can get this little guy to my house and settled in before I go...

@Zara I really hope the best for Quaker. It's unfortunate that you are leaving, but BF sounds like he's up to the task.

Yea.... I´m getting very nervous. About everything. So many what ifs and worries, but I´m trying not to get ahead of myself. For now, we wait.
It is 13.48 now. X-ray @ 3pm and I will call at 4pm.
At least we know he´s still with us, or they would have called if there was any tragic news, so it seems the meds are working to fight against infections.

My boyfriend will be great, I know he will. He´s not like us, but he loves the birds and tries his best, my lovies all love him. When I left home for my last trip he cared for 3 birds.... now he´s caring for 7!

I´m going to clean my cages and then move Adelie.
I actually ordered a load of branch perches a while ago but they still haven´t turned up, I forgot all about them. I think I´ll pinch a perch from Aldora. I feel really guilty for not grabbing a perch yesterday for the cage, but I didn´t know he would stay there over night... or even that he´d be coming home to me. Poor little thing has been in a very small empty cage for 22 hours.

Just now.
It´s not looking good.
Top part of the wing is crushed and dying, he needs it amputated. They are observing him because he bled two drops of blood from his nose last night.
He´s being handfed.
He won´t be able to fly again.

edit, I meant to say, they are observing him before they can amputate the wing. She said the part that is crushed is the tip to the first joint, so I think it will be a partial amputation.

I’m so glad this little bird has you and your boyfriend to help him! I hope he’ll pull through, even if it is with just a partial wing. What a cutie!

I'm only here cos the videos popped up on my YT. You're an angel @Zara and you have a great fella to help you. Even with an amputation this birb stands a good chance of a happy future.

If he makes it through all of this, it is highly likely he will stay with us unless there´s a problem with the family dynamics.

It saddens me more because he´s not Adelie, or my dog Jacob. They are both special needs, but they weren´t forced to be ¨kept¨ as pets because of it. This little guy just lost his freedom and it´s so sad.

As I´m writing this, I am now remembering another member in the last month finding an injured Quaker and he´s settled into his home ok.... so that does bring a bit of comfort.. so who knows how he´ll adjust...

For now, I´m just hoping for a recovery and that he can come home. I´m doing my best to remain positive. The lady who called sounded very concerned over the blood. Maybe I will call them tomorrow morning for an update, see how the night went..

One step at a time ❤
