I have ants and only in one cage and I don't want them in any more.
I go through this every year (spring and fall) and it doesn't get any better. I know I have to spray outside against the foundation of the house but what works best inside? They don't drown in water...I've tried that.

I usually clean the area up, then blot vinegar in the area. Stinks for a bit, but has kept them away.

I can stand the smell of vinegar better than I can stand the ants. I don't hate ants like I do spiders...they just belong outside.

I've used "Pam" cooking spray,,,kills em in they're tracks, kinda messy to clean up though. Get some " AMDRO " find the nest or hills outside, sprinkle some on,,,,ants gone in 24 hours!

I don't know how well this works cause I've never tried it but I read somewhere that putting orange peels near where they come in deters them.

I've found NOTHING that works and I have NO idea how they scale the height to get up to my apartment (the loft of the barn).

Cayenne pepper or diatomaceous earth or a mix of both scattered around works for me.

I get some of those really tiny ants in my cat's food dish. I've just learned to accept them, I try to keep the area clean but she's a grazer so there's always food sitting out. Diatomaceous Earth is bird safe and supposedly kills them.

Ok, so I'm not a bad parront if my bird dish has ants in it?

I hope I can find something to kill them before they get to the rest of the cages. I have ant traps in the trays of all of my other cages but not this one. Ugh. Well, I do now but I didn't before the ants came in.

You can rub a generous amount of petroleum jelly around the legs of the cage too... They get stuck in it.

The best ant remedy though for me is Terro Ant Traps. Find out where they are coming in and put them along their paths

Wild birds eat off the ground.... where there's poop and bugs! The horror!

It depends on the ants though. The ants I get are just common little black ants, which are totally harmless. I would be very concerned if they were carpenter ants or fire ants :wideyed:

These are just the little black ants...but I swear they can jump. They are on my arm before I even get the dish into my hand. Then I feel like little things are crawling on me all day and night. I'm gonna have to get my flashlight out tonight and go along the baseboard and find them.

I too think about how the birdies could have ants in their food if they were outside but I was concerned. Just think, mine gets veggies and protein in one bite. :D

I heard they won't cross a trail of cinnamon.

Me too. Hate how the ants increase when the trap first goes out though.

Well, I'm not sure where the ants went but yesterday I only saw two in her bowl. I'm hoping the trap that I have set out is working.
