Night lights for birds?

There are not any free outlets in the family room where I can put a nightlight. I have tiels and I know they are prone to night frights. While they have not had any, I don't want them too.

So would soft indirect light help? Is it going to disturb their rest? Would a nightlight have to be in the family room?

Thanks.

What about a small battery powered tap light? Or a weak string of left over LED christmas lights? also battery powered.
