It's starting to look like flying to Texarkana legitimately be the best choice. I'd sell Dexter 's cage, then fly us out there. However, the airline approved carriers look like they may be a tad small for a bit cockatoo. Thoughts?
I might have to check him as proper baggage, an idea I'm not fond of. I'm not sure how gentle people are with pets when they're o n a timer. I wish I could buy him a second seat or somethingAre there larger carriers for dogs? I'm sure people transport adult macaws somehow.
I don´t know what the sizes are, but for me, I´d rather he be with me albeit slightly cramped for a couple of hours as opposed to be alone, in the dark, and the carrier be tossed all over the place and most probably taunted by staff.a tad small

I read somewhere, I think another member, was after a harness for his bird for on board a plane... Is this a thing? Can he come out if he has a harness on?
Call the airline direct and ask if you can buy him a seat. You never know...
They never said that so I don´t know. I would have remembered if it was.might have been an ESA
No way he could stretch his wings, he can't do that in most kennels. The average size underneath a delta seat is 22*17*11 but the max is usually 22*14*9. I don't know if a pet carrier would be included in that limit, and delta seems to require you to call to figure out the actual maximumThey never said that so I don´t know. I would have remembered if it was.
What sort of fit is the carrier for Dexter? Would he be able to stand and stretch inside it?
Thank you. I'll find a different way if the carrier is too small, right now I'm just trying to get him into a better situation. I have plans to buy him an aviary!I'm guessing it all depends on how long the flight is / what time of the day it is. I imagine if its just a 1 hour flight it''d be alright if the cage was smaller, compared to a longer flight. And if it's at night I don't think they'd mind the carrier being small, since they'd be asleep. Just my thought process, but I'm no expert. Best of luck finding what's best for him
Is that a typo?Looks like 18" length x 14" width x 8" height. Is that feasible at all?
Nope =( it's not. I'm racking my brain to figure out how to get my guy out of here and 3 hours in such a small carrier is looking gtgto be my best option. Is that a typo?
8 inch heigh is really small I would think 18 would be ok..
That's your best option. It's only 3 hours out of your birds life and it's a 1 time necessary evil. Always best to be with you than out of your control. What car

Did you get trouble for the carriers being too small or anything? I'm concerned I'll get a nonrefundable ticket, get to the airport, and he sent away because Dexter can't spread his wings o r something. If memory serves me it was a sherpa soft carrier that got approved. My crystal flights were too large. I did see crystal flight makes air line approved sizes now.

That's sad.I don't think they care as long as he can fit under the seat.
It is sad, but I think 3 hours of discomfort will be better than cargo. That's sad.
