I do the seeds and millet every day but always place varying fruits and veggies for the boys in their cage daily. Before nightfall, I come back in and remove leftovers from their dishes. So it doesn't get gross over night.
Romaine, green peppers, apple, broccoli, the boys are like, "meh". They eat it but...
But cantaloupe....
They can't get to their dishes fast enough! It's like Linnie crack!
Which brings me to this evening.
I brought them up their cantaloupe. I give them chunks because it's easier for them to tear off the fruit's flesh with their beaks. The little pieces they pick up and accidentally drop. I know it's a lot and we waste more, but it's easier for them to eat.
Tonight, when I went to retrieve leftover cantaloupe, it wasn't there. Upon closer inspection, they had eaten one chunk, but BURIED the other two half eaten chunks under the seeds!!!
Maybe I'm giving them too much credit. But, I have a strong suspicion they anticipated that I would be coming in to remove the leftovers, and since their bellies were full, thought they could hide the rest of the stash from me. And snack on it later.
