I have been swamped at work..which means I am finishing projects at home and have little time left over for the inter-webs BUT I did want to take a quick moment to say THANK YOU to all of you for your sound, compassionate, sage advice!
I joined some FB bird groups over the past couple of months and I am beyond appalled by the advice people give/get and the way people take care of their birds (see examples below). It makes me doubly grateful that I stumbled on this site when my girl first came home! Thank you thank you thank you kind folks of Avian Avenue!!
Bad advice I've read on FB in the last 24 hours:
If your bird seems shy, just towel her until she submits
If you don't like your bird, just trade it on FB with a complete stranger
ALWAYS clip your birds wings, otherwise it's impossible to tame them
If your birds keep dying, don't bother to have a necropsy, just keep buying new ones - eventually you'll figure it out
If you can't afford to purchase a bird you should just ask for one online, the most expensive part of bird ownership is the upfront cost of purchase (ha!)
