Unfortunately you could list 100 reasons for some people NOT to get a parrot and it won't stop some block headed humans who shouldn't own a rock from getting a one...

Yes, it's a short list. The one statement that I disagree with strongly is that a first time owner should NEVER get a second hand bird. Ask all of us who have second hand birds (my first bird was a second hand fully mature GW macaw male) and there is so much more satisfaction from a second hand bird than a hand raised baby.
