Hello, newby here -
I got my first bird when I was 6 years old and have owned many different species over the years starting out with parakeets and then love birds, canaries, sun conure, pineapple conure, and Quaker for 14 years, besides dogs, cats, sugar gliders, etc. I was actually for 6 weeks visiting the pet store to hold a blue crown conure and then saw the Caique and fell in love with her right away. I brought her home August 9 (she was hatched 4/20/19). I had never even heard of a Caique more than 2 weeks before the day I brought her home. Lemon Ginger is now potty trained, flys to me when I call her, and is a snuggle bug, definitely needs lots of attention, and I can see the orneriness in her at times.
I have been reading everything I can find about Caiques, and I found your thread on the good, the bad, the ugly. Since I have had Ginger over the past 4 weeks I have seen exactly what everyone has posted about caiques! I will be reading every thread! Just like raising 4 wonderful daughters - and one being an ornery ginger, my husband and I are up for the challenge!
Thank you for all your experiences and stories!
