I brought my new Quaker home last Friday. He still has yet to start making noise. He steps up for me, takes treats and allows me to hold him, but still no noise. I know I should be happy, but I just want him to make some noise :). Anyone else have new babies that stay quiet for a bit?

Some birds become a bit nervous in their new surroundings, and take a bit to come out of their shell so to speak. Does he seem healthy otherwise?

It's not unusual for a parrot to be quiet for the first few days in a new home. When I brought Ralph the QP home, he didn't make a sound during the first three days he was here, and then when he finally did it was only a few little squeaks. But before long he became more vocal, and began imitating tapping sounds and then a few words. Your QP will probably have something to say to you once he's ready.
