I am looking to adopt a conure or other similar sized bird. I have a fair amount of experience with birds. I owned a budgie for 10 years as a child and coparented a Blue and Gold Macaw (my dad's but bonded to me when I lived at home. I can't have her in an apartment).
I'm missing the joys up parrot parenthood and want a mid-sized bird who won't bug the neighbors (yay apartment life), will be playful and smart, and will cuddle up with me or hang out on my shoulder all day. I work from home and its just too quiet here by myself. I miss the chatter of having a bird.
A conure seems like a good fit since they are such goofballs and the size works with my lifestyle. This bird would be out most of the time and hang out on my shoulder a ton.
My only issue is that I can't afford to pay alot for a bird up front. I have worked out how to get food, toys, and a vet care fund into the budget but conures around me are going for $300 up front and I don't have that lying around. Does anyone know of a conure in need of a good home? For a small (or non-existent) rehoming fee?
