the meds are not a problem anymore. he doesn't run from the syringe and clamp his beak shut. So I can do twice a day no sweat. He got very weak after his 15 mins of nebulizing and could only climb his porch step with great effort. He had not eaten recently so he didn't throw up in the chamber. He perks up greatly after 30 mins of oxygen. Again he throws up if he's just eaten. So I don't have many opportunities unless I do back to back nebulizing and oxygen. He doesn't like being in there for so long. What if I did back to back 15 minute sessions of each? Max he's willing to stay in is 30 mins.

Should nebulizing make him weak?

Do you think he’s dizzy after nebulizing?

I have never nebulized personally (my girl was on oral antifungals) but I don't think that's typical? Maybe @Hankmacaw can comment.

What are you nebulizing with?

You can do both at the same time.

Solution of terbinafine and Mucomyst in water. Together will be awesome. Thanks Sarah!

Terbinafine (Lamisil) is pretty benign. Hank was switched to it when he had been on Itraconazole (Sporanox) too long and his liver was giving up. It is not as effective against some of the bad fungus like Asper and AGY and has to be given longer, but there are much fewer side effects.

I looked up the side effects of Mucomyst and here they are. Perhaps he was made drowsy by it.
Acetylcysteine may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

  • nausea.
  • vomiting.
  • fever.
  • runny nose.
  • swelling of the inside of the mouth.
  • throat irritation.
  • drowsiness.
  • cool, moist skin.

Thanks ML! Today since he got O2 simultaneously he was completely fine when I took him out. Thank you @Macawnutz

That's a good idea. Are they going to sedate him for it? If so, see if they'll take blood at the same time.
I’m a walk-in at such short notice so he can’t go in hungry for the sedation. I’ll ask her what the plans are.

Wait, why can't he?
He’ll be so weak if he has to wait on an empty stomach. We can make an appointment later in the week for early morning. She gets in at 8:30.
