Hello,

My name is Rocky, and my wife Cathie and I live in Portland, Oregon with our flock of nine:

Agi -- Hawk-head
Bobby -- Blue-headed Pionus
Buzzy -- Central African Gray
Hubbard -- Red-lored Amazon
Iris -- Hyacinth Macaw
KK -- Yellow-naped Amazon
Mickey -- Roseifrons Conure
Morgan -- Timneh Africal Gray
Sunny -- Blue & Gold Macaw

Five of the nine are rehomes. Ages range from early teens to 40+ years old except for Mickey who's 6 months old and just joined the flock a week ago. We may acquire a Festive Amazon as well.

Pictures of the flock are here.

Thanks, Zara. Greetings to you, your flock and Jacob.

Does Aldora's name have to do with being found on your door-step?

This name is interesting for me since it closely resembles the Spanish word "Aldorta" which translates into English as "Black-crowned night raven" (Nycticorax nycticorax).

Yes it is, however I chose it as it is of Greek origin meaning winged gift. Nube is the only one with a true Spanish name :) The others are all the same in both languages but Jaime and Sydney are pronounced the English way

Hello fellow Pacific Northwesterner!

I'm envious of your flock. :) Hawk-headeds and Hys are definitely on my wishlist, but I doubt I'll ever have the means to bring one home.

OK, I see. It's a fusion of the word "wing" or "ala" in Spanish and "gift" or "δωρα" ("dora") in Greek. That's special!

One of our birds I named "Iris" because her feathers iridesce after a bath. She is my rainbow girl and only rarely a "painbow".

Hi Rachel. Nice to meet someone in the region. No question we're lucky to have such birds. They're all special.
