Just a quick post since I feel I need to do this one last update. Sif did have surgery today, in spite of the many flash flood warnings we had. It’s been no fun keeping her from taking the bandage off but I’m hoping that we make it through the night. It was quick & went well. Hopefully it’s the last. Stitches come out in 10-days. Thanks for all the support. Best wishes to all.
We’ve made significant progress and I am stopping the silvedane on her toe. She is still getting the meloxicam as it is a little sensitive but no more swelling or pus. You can see all the stitches now and that the thread is purple. Such a huge improvement from when it was so swollen you couldn’t see the stitches at all.
I’m hoping this is the last surgery for a while. We (vet & I) both know at some point the inside toe on the left foot will have to be removed completely but I’m hoping it’s a long, long, time away.
Sif’s stitches are out! The toe stub looks good. Going to put some silvedane on for a little longer until there is new skin over the suture line. All looks good and she got a A+ for her check up!
Yes. The only downside so far is she doesn’t seem to be eating as well and I’m not sure if that is due to pain if she tried to grab food with her foot or something else.
I noticed Sif’s feet still seemed to be abraded so I switched to the majority of the perch being covered in pre-wrap and using vet wrap to hold it together.
