I have four spruce trees on my property that produce tons of cones every year.
I'm wondering if these can be safely used as toys for CAG shredding. I normally just mulch them up for garden mulch.

Sure can!

I would bake them at 200 degrees F for about 20 to 30 minutes to kill any bugs though :)

Oh you are going to have such a happy parrot, I remember seeing the birds go crazy for the pine cones on the trees.....not much left of them once the birds had finished with them :)

If you are going to get into trouble then just make it worth your efforts ;)

Haha yeah the cockatoos converge on our street trees when the pine cones are ready. (You have to watch your step though, they are good at dropping them on you if they are being cheeky!) We have about three weeks of loud munching noises and pinecone rain :D I love it!

When I had a TAG and cleaned up several pine cones for her she was terrified of them, even when introduced slowly. Be careful and go slow.

Well I heated about forty for twenty minutes at 200F and no obnoxious odors. Now to gather up a sack full and store in my wood work shop for the winter.
I hope he likes them.

No but yes. I'm an industrial Millwright Machinist, Automotive Tech with truck and coach and diesel. I have built two houses and live in my second with 3500 squ ft raised bungalow on a half acre lot in the country.
I have built lots of furniture that I still use and tons of trinkets etc. But no not a licensed carpenter.

Been retired since I was 57, wow that was 10 years ago.
